Alternate Definition for Immune System Process Any process involved in the development or functioning of the immune system, an organismal system for calibrated responses to potential internal or invasive threats. "Calibrated" allows for tolerance and regulation, "potential" allows for not knowing whether something is really a threat or not ahead of time, "internal or invasive" covers tumors and microbes, as well as individual proteins or other immunogenic molecules of self or non-self origin that in particular contexts within the body induce immune reponses or tolerance induction, centrally or peripherally. No adjacent plants need apply.

Comparison of definitions immune system process An organismal physiological process involved in the development or functioning of the immune system, an organismal system for calibrated responses to potential internal or invasive threats. An organismal physiological process that is carried out by a system whose objective is protection from apparent danger. Any process involved in potentiation of an immunological reaction of an organism to an immunological stimulus.
