The Holy Spirit Grants Endurance

Where does resolve come from? “The Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting; it has been found difficult and left untried.” GK Chesterton Where does resolve come from?

Where did Paul’s resolve come from? Acts 20:17-21 The road behind was hard… 2 Cor. 11:24-28 He did not shrink back. Vs. 20. Acts 20:22-27 The road ahead will be hard… John 15:18-26 and Acts 9:16 He will finish the course. Vs. 24. Where does the strength to endure come from?

Acts 20:24 24 But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.

Acts 20:28-30 28 Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood. 29 I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; 30 and from among your own selves will arise men speaking twisted things, to draw away the disciples after them.

Acts 20:31-32 31 Therefore be alert, remembering that for three years I did not cease night or day to admonish every one with tears. 32 And now I commend you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.

Romans 8:16-18 16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him. 18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.
