Sanol – a world wide absorbent and remediation concept

The company Head office in Partille, Sweden Sanol AB is environmentally certified according to ISO 14001  Quality certified according to ISO 9001 Production facilities in Hjo, Partille (Sweden), Budapest (Hungary) Partnership/Joint Venture with a Meltblown-factory since 2011 2014 - 1600 m2 new facilities in Partille Head office in Partille ISO 14001  Environment ISO 9001 Quality Production facilities – Hjo & Partille (Sweden), Fuijara (UAE) New building!

Quality & Environment It comes naturally, that our company comply to all demands and requirements specified in latest revisions of ISO 9001:2008 (Quality Management) and ISO 14001: 2004 (Environmental Management). Fulfilling the demands in these standards, ensures a consistent quality and reliability of our products and services.

The company Sanol® - our own, unique, oil absorbent All development of products within the company Broad range of absorbent and spill control products for all applications considering decontamination and spill prevention. Started 1977 – Jan Berglund Idea of The SOS Container with machinery and also mini Factory

Product range Sanol® – where it all started Booms & socks Granulated Fixol® – absorbs all type of liquids Resin must be modified to absorb water and water-soluble products For easy separation the Fixol is always colored light blue and Sanol is colored light yellow.

Product range Complimentary products: Spill Kit PP absorbents – sheets, rolls, socks, pillows, booms etc. Containment booms Drain covers Granulated diatomit etc.

Sanol® – the product Sanol-foam is a modified carbamide polymer resin Based on inorganic/synthetic raw material to create an organic material The building blocks of Sanol-foam are the same that are used in fertilizers, bioplastics, chewing gum, pharmaceuticals etc It is a non-toxic product which is biodegradable and readily compostable. This is what it looks like after we have made a batch! It dries outside.

Structure of Sanol® Tiny bubbles Resin hardens Enormous amount of small cavities Absorbs fluids Capillary forces Fluid penetrating into the cavity will be retained Highly polar fluids will be rejected At manufacturing, almost indefinite amounts of tiny bubbles are created. When the resin hardens, it creates an enormous amount of small cavities that will absorb fluids by a combination of capillary forces and weak electrostatic forces. Any fluid penetrating into the cavity will be retained, but highly polar fluids will be rejected unless the resin is modified

ACTIVITIES When the Sanol foam is in physical contact with any other surface contaminated with an organic fluid, the fluid will be absorbed into the foam and retained there. The contaminated surface will be cleaned and the contaminant permanently removed.

Sanol® Advantages of Sanol: Great absorption capacity - at least 35 times its on weight ABsorb vs ADsorb - No leakage of absorbed contaminants Superior floatability and water resistance Less weight – simple handling and collection of used products 10 m booms instead of 3 m booms, less links – much better efficency Eco-friendly - virtually non-toxic and biodegradable May be incinerated without formation of detrimental residues Simple and easy to produce locally Will not give any negative impact on natural environment Sanol 2.0 and PP are complementary products but in many cases the Sanol is superior to PP

Sanol® compared to PP Sanol 31-36 g oil per g absorption material “After 20 minutes the measurements were stopped and the weight of the pouches was measured, figure 4. It was observed that the amount of oil remaining in the absorption material was more than twice as much for the foamed polymer compared to the PP-fibres, 31-36 g oil per g absorption material compared with 13-14 g.” YKI test results, project PX20172 Sanol 31-36 g oil per g absorption material Polypropylen 13-14 g oil per g absorbtion material

Sanol® booms Sanol boom 18 cm Ø 10 m with rope and links and spunbond net/cover

Sanol® booms …and you will loose on every connection! Sanol boom 18 cm Ø 10 m lengths 3 kg/10m PP boom 18-20 cm Ø 3 m lengths 5 kg/3m …and you will loose on every connection! (17 kg/10m) Our biggest boom 18 compared to a 18 pp boom And the amount of oil you absorb is more
