Why. . . CFNC.org?

You need a CFNC account to participate in College Application Month. Oct 28 - Nov 24 Where will you apply? 2018 Best Colleges in NC Want to see more NC college rankings go to: https://www.niche.com/colleges/search/best-colleges/s/north-carolina/

What is College Application month? NC College Application Month is an annual event to support high school seniors in completing three important college enrollment steps: residency, FAFSA, and applications. The actual college applications are completed during the week of Nov 13th. How is HHS going to help? HHS will have a Financial Aid Workshop on Oct 12 from 3 - 5pm in the media center. Purpose of the workshop - To complete the RDS (residency determination service) form and obtain the FSA ID (federal student aid identification) password and username.

HHS Financial Aid Workshop Attendees should bring with them: Student and Parent SSN (social security number) Drivers License Vehicle Registration Residence Information 2016 Tax Return Use the Google form sign up:    https://goo.gl/forms/RIcEBee19dMX4xus2 Sign up by October 11, 2017 so that we can ensure we have enough space and computers available.

What should you be doing now?

Start applying to those 4- year schools that interest you - NOW! Don’t forget that you can also apply to community colleges and after two years transfer to a 4-year school in order to complete your junior and senior year . . . . . . same degree - smaller price tag!

https://cfnc.wistia.com/medias/5fk7qe3qws Video: “Application Etiquette” (4:54)

From the video Complete your essay before the college application “event”. Ensure that you and others have proofread your essay. Use the online planner at CFNC.org Use your school email address and check it routinely this year.

Why is college application week so important? During college application week (the week of November 13th) - some colleges will waive their application fees! (i.e. this is an opportunity to get something for free!)

Application Fees and Fee Waivers The North Carolina Community College system does not charge an admissions application fee at any of its 58 campuses - at any time! Students who need a Collegeboard (SAT) and/or ACT fee waiver will need documentation before a fee waiver can be issued. See your school counselor for more information.

What about money? How can I get money to go to school?

Where can you get help completing the FAFSA form? FAFSA Day Oct 28, 2017 (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) FAFSA.gov or use your CFNC.org account Where can you get help completing the FAFSA form?
