Tips and Tricks to Help Your Team Succeed FBLA Mobile Coding Tips and Tricks to Help Your Team Succeed

The Event The following platforms may be used to develop the project: Google’s Android, Apple iOS, or Microsoft Windows Phone. Project submissions must include the source code and screen shots of the GUI in PDF format. The solution must run standalone with no programming errors. Applications may deploy from a smartphone, tablet, or both, but must be smartphone deployable. Applications do not need to be available for download from a digital-distribution multimedia-content service. The app should be shown to the judges.

The Production USB can hold far more files and information in a more convenient format App does not need to be live… BUT, if you make it live, know it takes time (almost a month) for Apple iOS Standard interface for viewing the app Xcode or Android Studio preferred Include a Read Me with directions, as well as with SoA LABEL your materials Name, school, state, and event

The Production DO NOT USE DO USE Free, online drag and drop builders That isn’t coding and it will cost a fortune to download the source code If it says “with no technical experience” then you should consider that a learning opportunity for your students DO USE Online templates and customize Codecanyon w3layouts

Scoring On the Production Name your files professionally Not “fblaappv27” but instead “App Name FBLA 2017” Screenshots should be of live usage, not computer screenshots with additional information Screenshots can be in a PowerPoint or images labeled appropriately App should launch seamlessly and quickly in a standard interface

The Presentation PowerPoint or Prezi works well Always bring a backup copy DO NOT record an entire presentation of app interaction This is not a presentation, it is a video A short interaction of a feature may be acceptable DO walk the judges through the app Change your mouse to make it more visible

The Presentation DO actually show the app to the judges Does not have to be live Can show in coding interface Screenshots can be helpful to highlight certain points

Scoring On the Presentation FOLLOW THE FLOW OF THE RATING SHEET Explain about the team, the problem, and why the app will solve the problem Show the live app Explain the app creation steps and strategies What program was it coded in, were outside lines of code used, why did you choose a certain platform Walk judges through app features What does the consumer use it for and how Why was the specific structure used Reiterate the value of the app
