ALPFA Pilot Objectives Empowering Latino Leaders 4

ALPFA INCREASING LATINO VOLUNTEERS Will take place first two weeks of October coinciding with National Hispanic Heritage Month. Cities invited to partner ALPFA members on JA in a Day opportunities across the USA in October, 2017: Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Detroit, Houston, New York, Phoenix, Philadelphia & Seattle. We will be looking for JA/ALPFA Areas can expect to engage a minimum of 10-15 ALPFA volunteers. Upon confirmation of participation, JA Area representatives and local ALPFA leadership will be virtually introduced to begin planning the experience(s). Empowering Latino Leaders 3

JA in a Day Event Expectations of ALPFA Participants Recruit 10-15 ALPFA volunteers for the event. Work with JA Area on event logistics (confirmation of event date, time, volunteer contact information). Assist JA Area in the collection of any necessary volunteer information (forms, etc.) Coordinate volunteer training(s) to be led by JA Area. Share link to post-volunteer experience survey with ALPFA volunteers. Empowering Latino Leaders 4

ALPFA Veterans Update Veteran task force has put together a framework that will be disseminated to chapters (similar in structure and intention as the WoA framework). New Veterans page will be launched with links to websites that can provide additional guidance from organizations already assisting veterans, etc. Working on creating webinars specifically related to veterans All content focused on the various stages of transition from military life to civilian life. **More to come in the weeks leading up to convention Empowering Latino Leaders 4

ALPFA CONVENTION Update (continued) ALPFA’s Got Talent contest is back! This year the competition will be handled differently. Audition videos will be made visible so our membership can vote to determine what 5 acts will perform at convention. Prizes are: $2,000 for first place winner, $1,000 for second place winner, and the first place winner gets to select a professional or student chapter to receive an additional $2,000. Marketing team will address in their update where to find more details and how to help us advertise the competition. Empowering Latino Leaders 4
