IUF TNC STRATEGY An “organizing circle” Helping affiliates build & organize membership

Organize/Fight Recognition Negotiate for “space” More organizing More strength Better standards

TNC recognition of IUF 2005 - 2015 Full recognition Ability to raise issues with international corporate management No level of recognition EWC v. IUF trade union recogntion Importance of international trade union recognition

Current Chairman and CEO: Irene Rosenfeld (NASDAQ: (MDLZ) 2016 net sales: 26 billion USD Employees #: 90,000 Current Chairman and CEO: Irene Rosenfeld Important players: Nelson Peltz and William Ackman About 85 percent of Mondelez’ annual revenue is generated in snacks categories, and nearly three quarters of its sales come from outside of North America

Adjusted operating income and sales (last 3 fiscal years) Changing consumer demands, particularly in developed parts of the world Financial short termism and resulting problems for workforce…no commitment to building a sustainable food company with a plan for the future.

Employees # s (last 3 fiscal years) Since 2012, Mondelez has spun off its coffee business, sold 10 chocolate and candy brands to competitor Eurazeo affecting 5 French facilities, announced closure of its Valladolid and Chicago factories, and sold a chocolate facility to Barry Callebaut in Halle, Belgium Where employment is increasing, is in areas with low union density and diminished labour rights and protections (i.e Mexico, China)

How can we fight back together? Talk to local and national management (see talking points) Organize ground and social media actions Keep your membership informed on IUF affiliate activities by sharing the IUF Mondelez Website, Facebook and Twitter websites Share your Mondelez updates with the IUF so that we can help get your message out EWC v. IUF trade union

Mondelez Week of Action – March 2017 IUF affiliates around the world showed their determination to defend quality permanent employment at job-slashing Mondelez in a week of trade union action from March 27-31, 2017.
