Ceramic Monster By: Kay Leeper & Melanie Robinson
Objectives As the artist, I will assemble objects with clay using proper joining techniques. As the artist, I will arrange simple shapes to create sculptures in the round As the artist, I will produce textures
How are you going to tell that stroy? What story is your monster telling? How are you going to tell that stroy?
Start by creating a pinch pot Turn pinch pot on it’s side Take some time to discuss how we are telling a story visually what can your mouth tell us about the story our monster is going to tell us? (We look in mirrors etc.)
* Add uvula and teeth. How many teeth what style and shape do they need to be. Again don’t forget you are telling a story. What do your teeth tell the viewer?
Adding a tongue: I have them roll a thick coil then flatten it out with the heal of their hand. Use texture tools to add the texture of the tongue Adding lips: I have them roll two tapered coils to create lips.
From there we add Feet (for stability, make thicker) Eyes, eye lids , eye brows Arms Tails Accessories (these tell the story of the monster.)
