We Welcome a New SME Shining Star Week of: October 10rd, 2016 Mrs. Height’s WISE Owls Classroom Newsletter Dates to remember: Oct. 11-13th- Cogat testing Oct. 14th- Fall Festival 6-9pm Oct. 19th- Early Release (11:30) --REMINDERS— This week 3rd graders are taking the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAt). The test is broken into 3 days, 3 ten-minute sections per day. All third graders in ABSS take this test in October. The results will be used to determine which students need to be screened for the gifted program. Reading- We are learning to identify non literal language in fictional text. Math- We are learning strategies for subtracting multi-digit numbers. Writing- We are making revisions and editing our “A Time I Was Scared’ stories. Language- We are learning about plural and singular nouns, and possessive nouns (along with plural possessive and singular possessive nouns). Social Studies- We are learning about the Constitution and will start to memorize the Preamble. Fall Festival Friday night is fall festival! Please let Johanna know if you are able to volunteer your time or items so we can do our part in this awesome event! She sent an email earlier today. Thank you to those that have already started volunteering. This year our booth is the Touchdown Toss in the gym. We Welcome a New SME Shining Star On Monday, we will welcome Isaiah, our newest shining star to the classroom and to SME. I look forward to seeing my students welcome him and make him feel at home. We are excited to have you joining our family, Isaiah!! 
