To understand the importance of prayer to Christians today. 3.11 The Power of Prayer To understand that Jesus uses prayer before and during all important events and miracles To understand the importance of prayer to Christians today.

Look up each of the following passages and list all the things that we can learn about prayer from each one. Mark 1:35 Luke 6:12  Luke 5:16 Luke 22:39-40 John 17:11  Luke 10:21 Mark 9:14-29

The Power of Prayer Jesus was God’s Son and He had a close relationship with Him. All relationships need communication and Jesus communicated with God all the time. This communication with God is called prayer. What evidence can you provide to show that prayer is powerful? What do you think we can learn from looking at the way Jesus prayed?

The Power of Prayer God wants us to have a close relationship with Him just like Jesus did. If we are to have a close relationship with God then we must communicate with Him. We can ask for things, say sorry and praise God. All of these things are important. Why is Prayer important for Christians today?(8) God will help us Resist temptation Miracles Deeper relationship with God God spoke to Jesus in the gospels. What do you think Jesus did that made it easier to hear God speak to him? Do you think prayer is important? Explain your answer. Why do you think that God sometimes does not answer prayers? Give as many reasons as you can. What have you learned about prayer today?

Why is prayer important for Christians today? (8) If we pray then God guides us. We know this because Jesus always prayed before he did something important. We should pray to resist temptation. Jesus did this and it helped but Peter did not and it meant that he sinned against Jesus by denying him. If we pray then amazing things can happen. Jesus prayed for an evil spirit to come out of a man and it did. It allows us to spend time with God. Sometimes Jesus just went away on his own and prayed.
