OPEN ACCESS WEEK 2016 Why OA and why Espace? Mary-Anne Marrington;Elena Danilova;Helen Woodman; Fei Yu Scholarly Communication and Repository Section 2016

Overview 2016 eSpace FAQs – Mary-Anne Marrington Update on eSpace Common re-occurring questions for the eSpace Team Author Identification – Helen Woodman ORCiD; Researcher ID; ScopusID UQ Researcher Identifiers and eSpace Scenario Activity Open Access and eSpace – Elena Danilova Green/Gold Publishing models for journals/conference papers What are the alternatives available? UPOs; School Memberships; Green OA Version and embargo information Manuscript OA Publishing- why & how? Activity – during presentation Open Access for UQ Data– Fei Yu ANDS project & updated eSpace metadata form 2016

Things researchers often ask about UQ eSpace FAQs Things researchers often ask about I have a Researcher ID account and an ORCiD. Why do I need to manually deposit publications? Which document type should I use to deposit? I added a publication to eSpace. Why can’t I see it in my profile? I have published with more than one name. How do I know my pubs are correctly linked to my eSpace profile? Why can’t eSpace upload publications from my CV? Why is there a difference between the number of Web of Science pubs in my eSpace profile and the number in my RID account? Why is the number of my publications in Scopus higher than the number in eSpace? Why don’t my Scopus and/or Web of Science citations in eSpace match citations in Scopus and Web of Science? 2016

Workflows in UQ eSpace What happens to publications after they are added to UQ eSpace? http://www.npr.org/sections/13.7/2015/12/14/459651340/sometimes-confusion-is-a-good-thing Manual deposits published within 1-2 business days RID requests, queries, corrections and file uploads to existing records responded to within 1-2 days WoS/Scopus imports via UQ byline (Sunday/Tuesday evening) need to be claimed. UQ eSpace team prioritises linking of current year pubs. RID downloads (Friday evening) automatically linked to researcher profile WoS/Scopus/RID de-duplication/updates, ongoing Can manually import from WoS/Scopus if title matches, regardless of byline Pubs added to School collections based on bylines and/or depositor affiliation. Collections are not fully indicative of content produced by a Unit.

In conversation with researchers UQ eSpace Very, very important to make sure all of your publications are in UQ eSpace Researcher Identifers Very important to create and/or link an ORCiD to UQ eSpace via UQ Researcher Identifiers app Important to create and/or link other identifiers, depending on whether your papers are indexed in the related systems, e.g. ResearcherID if you have papers in Web of Science Recommended to create and link your Publons ID to UQ eSpace, especially if you do peer reviewing https://libnet.library.uq.edu.au/display/LIB/Client+Service+Librarian+UQ+eSpace+Checklist

What we are working on Enhance and Sustain UQ eSpace project – migration to Amazon Web Services for greater reliability and functionality – scheduled to ‘Go-live’ by the end of November 2016 User acceptance testing in progress New front-end look and feel – will roll out in 2017 – aim is for it to resemble current Author Statistics page Overall plan is for UQ eSpace to broaden the range of sources for external data import, e.g. PubMed, CrossRef, and integrate more seamlessly with other internal systems at UQ, e.g. My.UQ, UQ Researchers, DataHub, Academic Portal

Author Identification Establish and connect your name and institutional affiliation Setup and manage your author identity Standardised Institutional affiliation and address UQ Researcher Identifier UQ Researcher Identifiers 2016

Scenario I am an early career researcher from the Health Faculty, looking for some information about who is publishing in my area of pharmacology within the University. My research involves looking into the behaviour of GABAA Receptors and I would like to publish an article to disseminate my work. I am also considering applying for a grant to further my research and would like to establish connections with others working in this area. Therefore I am obviously looking for the most current research. I have been recommended to check UQ eSpace as a source of information to assist me with this. 2016

Open Access in eSpace OA by: 2016 DOI – digital object identifier is an open link for OA journals Link (no DOI) - Attached file (publishers version) – when publisher permits Attached file (post print) – when publisher permits Other – e.g. retrospective Mediated access – controlled (access to datasets) Types of OA as represented in eSpace – define field descriptors – doi, link no doi, pdf, pp, other Downloads Altmetrics 2016

Version control Version of Record (VOR) The final, definitive citable version of your paper, which has been copyedited, typeset, had metadata applied, & has been allocated a DOI. This is the version on the publishers website. Accepted Manuscript (post print) Your paper after peer review, when it has been revised & accepted for publication by the journal editor. Pre-print Authors original Manuscript Your paper before you submit it to a Journal. Use idea from T&F flyer for version description. Add Romeo stats for number of pubs that allow pdfs compared with postprints ** Deposit your post-print in UQ eSpace once your article has been published ** 2016
