Four Key Questions: Why is S.T.E.M. important? What is ‘A Catalyst of Change’? What is Shared Education? How will this project help my child?

is the technology of tomorrow.’ ‘A Catalyst of Change’   ‘The science of today is the technology of tomorrow.’ Prepare pupils for a high tech education & future Provide small group Science & Technology Lessons 14 Specialist S.T.E.M. Units (7 weeks each) over three years Social events across the year 25 Year Residential 29th to 31st March & Celebration Events.

When will these S.T.E.M. units be taught? ‘A Catalyst of Change’ When will these S.T.E.M. units be taught?   Every Wednesday afternoon from 1.30pm to 3pm our pupils will travel down and up to St James’s Primary School. Every half-term your child will do a new S.T.E.M. unit. In Sept/Oct pupils will do some team building work. They will work with the same S.T.E.M. group for the three years of the project.

Key Funders: The Office of the First and Deputy First Ministers £10 Million The Department of Education (Northern Ireland) £5 million Atlantic Philanthropies £10 Million

We have been awarded £90,000 over three years. FUNDING £10k-£30k pa per partnership of 2 schools £15k-40k pa for partnerships of 3 schools or more; £20-50k pa for partnerships of 4 schools. We have been awarded £90,000 over three years. Fantastic!

Shared Education is… A long-term school and government goal. A whole school community commitment. Developing relationships amongst pupils, staff and parents. It facilitates sharing of expertise to improve each school’s ability to improve pupils’ learning. Issues of diversity will be celebrated to develop a better community now and in the future.

How will we develop Shared Education? Friendship Workshops in Sept/Oct 2016. S.T.E.M. Small Groups Sept. 2016 - June 2017. Family Social Nights dates to be confirmed. Lessons on appreciation of the beliefs of others Mar 2017. Visits to churches Easter 2017. A family residential for both schools March 2017. Peace Proms and other Celebration events third term.

But why is Shared Education important to us? We have a long-term friendship We believe reconciliation is important We know we need to do more We want to be part of community change We want to be build a legacy!
