IFF : directs and implements IFP goals and objectives. IIEF: interacts with Fellows, from initial outreach to selection, through placement, ongoing support, and post-Fellowship activities. IIE : facilitate Fellows’ payments, and also is responsible for placing and monitor Fellows in the U.S. and Canada

COMMUNICATION RULES Always include your eight-digit IFP Identification Number when corresponding with your IFP-CP, with IIE, or with the IFP Secretariat. Use your name consistently as stated in your passport Request approval in advance from your IFP-CP for any proposed changes in your academic program, and notify your IFP-CP of any changes in your financial situation. Please contact your IFP-CP first and always copy your IFP-CP on any correspondence to your Grant Payment Officer on issues regarding fellowship funds.

FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS FIRST STEP: OPEN A BANK ACCOUNT! (refer to page 18 of your Fellows Handbook)

FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS Payments Made Directly to Fellows One-time payments for specific expenses (travel, settling-in allowance, computer, etc.). Regular periodic payments to cover living costs (quarterly living allowance) and books and supplies (annually). Note that payments are transferred on a quarterly basis only, and that transfers can take several business days to arrive in your bank account. Special payments under the Family Fund, Professional Enhancement Fund, Field Research Fund (PhD Fellows only), etc., which are only transferred as part of quarterly payments.

FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS Costs Paid Directly to the Service Provider for Fellows Round-trip economy class travel via the most direct route between your home and the location of your host university. Your tuition and other university fees, paid directly to your host institution through the Institute of International Education in New York City. (Please provide your host institution with a copy of your IFP Terms & Conditions and/or Billing Authorization Letter included in your grant agreement packet to ensure that tuition and other university fees are billed directly to IIE.) Your health insurance premiums, paid directly by IIE to the insurance company (please see Health and Accident Insurance Section on page 20).

FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS One-time Payments for Specific Expenses Settling-in allowance of US$375 for fellows studying internationally and $225 for those studying in-country or in-region. Sandwich Program will receive $250. Repatriation allowance is $225 for fellows studying in-country or in-region and $375 for those studying internationally, and will be disbursed with your last living allowance payment. Sandwich Program will receive $ 200. For the purchase of a computer and accessories, a one-time payment of $1,200 will be added to your first quarterly payment. You must use the Computer Purchase Report Form (see Appendix B ) to submit proof of purchase of your computer to your IFP International Partner Contact Person within one month of its purchase.

FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS REGULAR PERIODIC PAYMENTS Your living allowance is paid to you directly each three months (according to the start date of your grant agreement) through the Institute of International Education (IIE). Each fellow will be advanced one month’s allowance, which will later be deducted from your first quarterly living allowance Books and Supplies: US$1,000 will be added to your first quarterly living allowance payment in each grant year to cover the cost of books and other related

FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS Special Payments Family Fund: up to US$1,500 for fellows studying internationally and $1,000 for those studying in-country and in-region. (It is recommended that you consider reserving a portion of your Family Fund for use in case of an emergency. Professional Enhancement Fund: maximum $2,000 Sandwich Program: up to 6 months for fellows studying in-country Special Disability Fund: up to $3,000 Field Research Language Training Fund

FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS PLEASE NOTE ! All payments will be made on a quarterly basis. Fellows are responsible for managing their own budgets! Please allocate your living allowance carefully to cover your needs.

FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS HEALTH INSURANCE Your IFP health insurance policies do not cover the cost of eye examinations, eyeglasses, contact lenses, or dental work (except as the result of an accident). Your health insurance coverage number will be in force from the start date of your grant through its approved end date IFP cannot arrange or extend coverage for any Fellow who stays outside his or her home country after the end of the grant period. FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS HEALTH INSURANCE You must purchase health insurance for any accompanying dependents at your own expense Fellows should show their insurance card to the medical provider (doctor or hospital). Fellows may have to pay for medical treatment and then seek reimbursement through the insurance providers. Be sure to retain all your receipts and records of any medical care.

HOUSING You are responsible for making your own housing arrangements at your host institution. Funds for Fellows’ accommodation while studying are included in the living allowance provided under their IFP grant. You are strongly urged to make housing arrangements in advance whenever possible.

DURING YOUR STUDIES You are required to understand and satisfy in a timely manner all academic and professional requirements and obligations as a full-time student at your host academic institution. If you are studying outside your home country, you must also maintain your proper visa status, and be aware of any changes or actions that could affect your status, including travel, academic load, employment

DURING YOUR STUDIES You must also obey all applicable laws and regulations of both your home country and host country, and any international laws that might apply, during your grant period. This includes relevant immigration, employment and taxation regulations You are expected to participate in regional and international activities related to your IFP grant and the worldwide network of Fellows to which you are invited by IFP. These could include cohort-building activities, leadership training, or other conferences or meetings

GROUNDS FOR TERMINATION OR SUSPENSION Violation of any laws of your home country or your host country. Failure to meet satisfactory standards of academic performance and professional conduct or your failure to complete any requirements of your host university. Failure to carry out your academic program at any point.

GROUNDS FOR TERMINATION OR SUSPENSION Failure to provide reports and information required by IFP. Leaving your country of study without the permission of your IFP-CP. Engaging in any employment or income-generating activity not authorized by your IFP-CP.

GROUNDS FOR TERMINATION OR SUSPENSION False statements or any other material misrepresentation in your application form or any other IFP documents. Physical or mental inability to carry out your academic work. Any action you take that would place the work of IFP at risk, and/or hinder your ability to effectively use the knowledge and skills you acquire on behalf of your home country.
