Grades Grades can be found on our website. Go to the Heatherwood website to check them. Grades will be updated when there are new grades to be entered. I will not call parents to let you know your child’s grades. You can register to have weekly progress reports sent to you.

Support If I Do Not Understand Ask questions in class and take detailed notes. Use book and notes for help when you do not understand. After school study club in room 307 on Tuesday and Thursday room 305; 2:50-4. (bus provided) Online text book which includes: Tutorial videos, Extra practice, Review tests, and Interactive reviews. (Please have them use this resource.) There is also extra practice in the back of the book. Khan Academy and other math websites.

Overall Grades Assignments: 2 pts. Each x 5 assignments then 10 pts. = 4, 8 or 9 = 3, 5-7 = 2, 2-4 = 1, 0-1 = 0 . Quizzes 4 above standard 3 standard 2 approaching standard 1 below Assignments and Quizzes are Formative and are worth 0% of the grade (not weighted) Tests are Summative: 4, 3, 2, 1, = 100% Overall Grade: 100% Summative assessments This is the same in all math classes.

Class Structure Warm-Ups: (5 minutes) Homework Review: (5-10 minutes) Lesson: (30 minutes) Homework: Finish what is not done in class as well as any homework (Note: Homework should be complete in 15-30 minutes. If it takes more than 30 minutes and they have been working hard the whole time you may sign them off.) This does not include time for other subjects. Just math time.

Tests Students need to pay attention when we review for the test and each day during the unit. It is important that your child take school and all assignments seriously, not just at the end of a semester or after you did not get an A on a test. BE sure they are willing to ask questions and do extra work if necessary. Every thing we do in class leads up to the test and SBA. The learning targets are aligned with Common Core Standards. The language is simplified for students to understand. All tests are written to test these standards. Our assessments are tough and are written at the district level.

Test Taking Skills 1. Read all questions carefully. 2. Answer all questions completely showing work. 3. Label all answers correctly. 4. Go back and check everything carefully. 5. Be sure you have actually answered the question. Does the answer make sense? 6. Be sure to prepare before the test each day of the unit. 7. Ask questions in class if you do not understand something on homework or in class.

Classroom Procedure Letter You already read and signed the procedure letter. Please be sure to review it or this slide show when you have a question. They contain answers to the most commonly asked questions. Grades are on line. Please check grades on a regular basis. The students should have one in their notebooks. Extras can be copied from my website.

Questions and Answer Time If you have a question about your child please email or call me to discuss it at another time. When you contact me please include what period your child has math. I look forward to working with you all this year. Thank you for coming.
