Fig. 1 HEV testing. Four hundred and sixty-four patients with acute neurological illness were tested for HEV. In 11 cases, there was evidence of current or recent infection with HEV. One hundred and fifteen patients had a convalescent blood sample taken for anti-HEV IgG. Of these 30 samples were anti-HEV IgG positive, compared to 31 of the matched initial samples.
