Anti-Bullying Workshop for Parents Tuesday 15th November 2016 2pm and 6pm

Purpose and Aims To launch the school’s revised anti-bullying policy and definition To explain what we do to prevent bullying Explain what we do to deal with bullying To know what cyber-bullying is and how to keep children safe online.

Anti-Bullying Questionnaire Majority of parents didn’t know how the school deals with bullying Most children who had experienced bullying said that it made them feel sad or lonely Most children told an adult at home or at school about the bullying and for most children, the bullying then stopped

Bullying Definition “Behaviour by an individual or group, usually repeated over time, that intentionally hurts another individual or group either physically or emotionally.”

Signs and symptoms of bullying Signs of bullying can be extremely variable and will very much depend on the individual. The more common signs include: Physical signs Emotional signs Behavioural signs General – frequently ‘loses’ possessions, appears tired, avoids entering school with others

What to do if your child is being bullied Speak to your child’s class teacher or Mrs O’Toole They will assess the situation and undertake the 7 steps Approach, if necessary All incidents are recorded via the school’s internal system If the situation doesn’t improve, come back and speak to us again.
