If we carefully consider how each of the assumptions is posed and developed, we can assert that our Rotary Foundation has the human and financial resources to deal with all of them successfully.

“We must experience the emotion that makes heart service possible” Professor Joseph Coates, a leader of the World Future Society, an extraordinary group of brilliant thinkers devoted to studying the future we are shaping, has compiled an interesting report dealing with Assumptions about the Year 2025. Coates brings up problems that society will have to face in the highly probable future, and lists several crucial issues: Managing Our World Managing Human Health Managing the Environment and Resources Population Trends Automation and Infotech Worldwide Tensions and Public Issues and Values “We must experience the emotion that makes heart service possible”

Am I an idealist to think that we can give our children an education to make them better world citizens Or nourishment for their bodies so they will not go to bed hungry Or clean water to drink?

An I an idealist to think that we can give the lame the prosthesis they need to become productive citizens in their communities

Am I an idealist to think that every man, woman or child should have adequate dental and medical care

Am I an idealist to think that we can teach a community to grow their own food that they can become more self sufficient

Am I an idealist to think that our Peace Scholars are now making a difference in our world and future scholars will join them in building a better and more peaceful world

Am I an idealist to think that our GSE teams make a difference in all the areas they visit and the people they meet.

Am I an idealist to think that the micro loans sponsored by Rotarians enable individuals to achieve a better life

Am I an idealist to think that our Rotary Scholars make a difference in every area of the world that they study and visit

Am I an idealist to think that every human being should have clean water to drink

Am I an idealist to think that every child should have the ability to have the medical attention that will enable them to speak and hear properly so that they can grow to become productive citizens

Am I an idealist to think that Rotarians will succeed in eradicating Polio from our world. Well, I am an idealist and I think that many of you in this audience are also idealist

Lean on Me by Bill Withers

Sometimes in our lives, we all have pain,

we all have sorrow.

But if we are wise,

we know that there's always tomorrow.

Lean on me, when you're not strong

and I'll be your friend. I'll help you carry on,

for it won't be long 'til I'm gonna need somebody to lean on.

Please swallow your pride, if I have things you need to borrow.

For no one can fill those of your needs that you won't let show.

You just call on me brother when you need a hand.

We all need somebody to lean on.

I just might have a problem that you'll understand.

We all need somebody to lean on.

Lean on me when you‘re not strong,

and I'll be your friend. I'll help you carry on,

for it won't be long 'til I'm gonna' need somebody to lean on.

You just call on me brother when you need a hand.

We all need somebody to lean on.

I just might have a problem that you'll understand.

We all need somebody to lean on.

If there is a load you have to bear that you can't carry.

I'm right up the road, I'll share your load if you just call me.

Call me (if you need a friend) Call me
