Mrs. Pandya Anatomy Room 330 Please be seated The bell work is on the board, Please fill out the 3-5 card now.

Syllabus . Take 5 minutes to read over carefully. Must be returned and signed by Friday. Work to be turned in must be placed in the designated basket before the bell rings for class to start.

Agenda . Please record the class information. Put all Homework, Tests, Projects, etc. in your Agenda!.

Safety Contract Please read over the safety contract carefully. Both you and your parents need to sign. I will retain the copy. You cannot perform a lab without turning in a signed safety contract.

Homework Quiz on the systems of the body, Prefixes and Suffixes on Tuesday (that’s tomorrow). Know the basic jobs of each system. Prefixes and Suffixes are the following: Append- Cardi- Cran- Dors- -logy Pariet- Pelv Peri- Pleur- -Stasis -tomy Meta-

Chapter 1 Anatomy- The study of the structure and shape of body parts. Physiology- The study of the function of body parts.

Robotic Surgery Overview of how it works. Take notes! Physicians Video Umich Surgery With Terms Prostate Surgery

Robotics In Detail If you have a weak stomach- you picked the wrong class. What are the advantages? Disadvantages? Tumor Removal

Terminology Please get out Directional dittos. Time to learn your direction. Follow along with your ditto as we review together. Remember: Day 5- Gummy Bear Lab!

Body Portions Axial Portion: Head, neck,&Trunk 2 body cavities Dorsal Ventral Appendicular Portion: Arms & Legs Planes of the body

Thoracic and Abdominopelvic Membranes Parietal Pleura: Wall rib. Lines the outer wall of the thoracic cavity Visceral Pleura: Deep rib. Lines the lung tissue Pleural Cavity: Rib. Fluid filled cavity between the two membranes. Mediastinum: Separates the thoracic cavity into 2 compartments. Lung vs. Heart & Esophagus

The membranes Pericardial Membrane: Around heart. Very thick. Surrounds the heart. Visceral Pericardium: Covers the surface of the heart. Pericardial Cavity: Cavity between the two membranes. Has very little fluid in it.

The Abdominal Membranes (Peritoneal Membranes) Parietal Peritoneum: Wall around abdomen Visceral Peritoneum: Deep around abdomen. Covers each organ. Peritoneal Cavity: Fluid filled space between membranes.

Abdominopelvic Regions Right Hypochondriac Region Epigastric Region (epi=upon) Left Hypochondriac region Right Lumbar Region Umbilical Region Left Lumbar Region Right Iliac Region Hypogastric region Left Iliac Region

Levels of Structure and Organization (Pg. 3) AtomsCompoundsOrganellsCells Tissues (Group of similar cells with a common function) Organ (Structure composed of two or more tissues that perform a specific function) Organ System (two or more organs working together for a common function) Organism (The living body)
