Drugs and Alcohol L.O: to know about different kinds of drugs and their associated harms and benefits.

A drug is… A substance that is taken to change the way a person feels, thinks or behaves. A drug can be legal, illegal or medicinal. Drugs can become addicted if misused or abused

What is a drug? Starter: You have been given post-it notes. In groups, write on separate notes things that you think are drugs. Decide as a group where you think each of your post-its should go. One member from each group come up and stick them on! There are pieces of around the room, marked ‘Legal, Illegal and Medical’.

Activity – you have 1 minute to write down as many as you can! Harms and Benefits Different categories of harms and benefits: Social – How do your friends and family feel? Does it change their opinion of you? Mental Health – How is your state of mind? Are you healthy? Physical - Is your appearance changing? How? How might some of the drugs on our list affect you? Activity – you have 1 minute to write down as many as you can!
