Bacteria and Viruses in Biotechnology

Lesson Launcher 10/24 Go to your Genetic Engineering Tab. Create space underneath where you wrote the definition for Genetic Engineering to draw a before and after picture What do you think the term Biotechnology means? What are some things associated with Biotechnology? On your Genetic Engineering tab draw a picture in the before section of what you think Biotechnology means. ( 3 minutes) Once you are done drawing your before picture we are going to read a brief description of biotechnology, answer a couple questions, GOGOMO, and draw an after picture.

Bacteria in Biotechnology Medical Biotechnology – Monday - Role of Teixobactin in Medicine Tuesday - Role of edible vaccines with bacteria Agricultural Biotechnology – Wednesday Front - Role of Bacteria in modifying plants Wednesday Back - Role of bacteria in food Environmental Biotechnology – Thursday - Role of Bacteria in bioremediation Industrial Biotechnology – Friday- Role of Bacteria in treating waste Instructions: Research your topic according to your day of the week. In your group create an Infographic describing your research. Include in your Infographic: Colorful Pictures and text describing the Role of Bacteria. Remember your text needs to be short and specific. The pictures need to be eye catching and describe the role of the bacteria visually. During the first half of class we will be working with the computers and you will research your topic on your own. When there is 20 minutes left of class we are going to put the computers up to charge and you and your group will create the infographic.

An infographic is a visual image such as a chart or diagram used to represent information or data. A well- designed infographic like the one below can help you simplify a complicated subject or turn an otherwise boring subject into a captivating experience.
