Levels of Organization (Cells to Tissues to Organs to Organ Systems) Standard: S7L2c: Explain that cells are organized into tissues, tissues into organs, organs into organ systems, and systems into organisms

Cells There are many different types of cells in the human body. None of these cells function well on there own, they are part of the larger organism that is called – you.

Tissue Tissue is a group of cells that have similar structure and that function together as a unit. There are four primary tissue types Epithelial, Connective, Muscle, Nerve

Organs A structure that contains as least two different types of tissue functioning together for a common purpose There are many different organs in the body Examples: Lungs, Liver, kidneys, heart, skin

Organ Systems Composed of two or more different organs that work together to provide a common function. There are 10 major organ systems in the human body.

Organisms Cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems make up most living things. If cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems were unable to work and function together than Kobe would not be able to do this…
