I. Salahaddin University-Erbil Salahaddin University-Erbil is a comprehensive public university dedicated to the advancement of learning through disciplinary and interdisciplinary teaching, study, and research, the creation and dissemination of knowledge, and the betterment of its community. It is centred in Erbil (Hawlêr) and serves the people of Kurdistan, Iraq and the world.

II. History The institution that became Salahaddin University-Erbil was founded in 1968 as the University of Sulaimani. In 1981, the university was moved to Erbil and the name is changed to Salahaddin University, then later in 1994 the name is changed to Salahaddin University-Erbil.

History, Cont. Salahaddin University -Erbil was the first higher education institute offering higher education degree. From 1968-1991, it was the only higher education institution in Kurdistan Region. Alumni (2013): over 100,000
