Formative Assessment and Learning Needs When designing a formative assessment, create questions that allow for answers to identify learning needs. Is the student fully correct? Does the student have incomplete or partial understanding? If so, where do the missteps exist? Is the student fully incorrect? Andwho should be evaluating student understanding? True or False: 3 x 4 = 16 Make it a multiple choice question with true and false as the choices. Give a rationale for why this answer is not true. Add additional math facts and make it a matching question. To differentiate, use pictures to model the answers.

Tests and Quizzes Creation Options to Consider Allow students to cross out answers allows students to eliminate answer choices for multiple choice questions. Hide question navigation bar allows you to hide the navigation bar from students so they are guided through each question sequentially, and are not able to skip or come back to questions. Hide answer choice letters allows you to hide the letters that appear alongside choices in multiple choice or multi choice/multi select questions (i.e. the letters for choice a., b., c., d., etc.) Randomize question order allows you to randomize the order of questions on your test. Show question type instructions displays instructions on how to answer each type of question to students.
