Rwanda Ethnic Conflict By Chris Chamberlain and Riley Casey

Rwanda Genocide Here Is a picture of the Genocide that took place in Rwanda in 1994. The civil war resulted in the genocide of 800,000 people. Most of these people were Tutsi villagers.

Starvation In this picture, it shows the starvation occurring in the Rwanda area. Due to the genocidal civil war in 1994 economic growth was stopped. The main resource was exporting tea and coffee, most people were subsistence farmers but struggled to feed their family.

Refugee Crisis In this picture, it shows just some of the nearly 2 million people that were turned into refugees due to the Rwanda civil war. They escaped genocide and war torn cities, but the neighboring countries struggled to support them with housing, food, and water because they themselves were low on resources.

The Rwanda civil war negatively affected Africa The Rwanda civil war negatively affected Africa. It was caused by 2 ethnic groups who did not get along. The Hutu and the Tutsi groups went to war within their country of Rwanda in 1994. This war halted economic growth and caused a refugee crisis in the neighboring countries like Burundi, Uganda, and the Republic of Congo. These countries could not provide resources to all the refugees coming in. The war also caused the death of over 800,00o Tutsi civilians. The war was very violent and caused many more problems in this region of Africa. To stop the economic problems, Rwanda has tried exporting tea and coffee which has now become their leading economic resource. They have also started to intervene in other countries where genocide is taking place in exchange for goods.
