FAO Sub-regional Office for Central Asia (SEC) FAO-SEC was established in 2007 and covers: Azerbaijan Kazakhstan Kyrgyzstan Tajikistan Turkey Turkmenistan Uzbekistan Country Office in Tajikistan headed by Mr Viorel Gutu (FAO Representative).

Contact: wild-life@fao.org Wildlife Activities at Global Level FAO mostly conducts ‘normative work’: legislative/policy support; capacity development; and technical guidance. The aim is to conserve wildlife together with their habitats and to improve the livelihoods of rural communities. Typical topics of wildlife-related work by FAO include: ecotourism; human-wildlife conflict; wildlife policies and legislation; illegal harvesting and trade for food and non-food purposes; impacts of climate change on wildlife and protected areas.
