Geography Review A fun adventure with geography vocabulary! You get to take notes on definitions while I push a button and say what is on the screen! Awesome!

Parallel Parallel lines are a set of lines that never intersect. They never run into each other. Never. The two L’s in the middle of the word are parallel. Is that a crazy coincidence or what? Train tracks are parallel.

Meridian A meridian is one of the longitude lines. A meridian stretches from pole to pole. They are all the same length.

Latitude Latitude lines are all parallel with each other. They run from east to west…forever round and round. They are not the same length.

Longitude Longitude Longitude lines all intersect at the poles. They are all the same length. I remember them by seeing “long” at the beginning and remembering they are all long. Longitude Longitude

Prime Meridian This is the 0 degree meridian that runs through Greenwich, England.

There is a sign that shows the split between the eastern and western hemispheres.

International Date line This is not a telephone dating service for world travelers. It is a jagged line that runs through the Pacific Ocean. It is at 180 degrees longitude. On the other side of the globe from the Prime Meridian. Yes, you could run around the north pole shouting, “Monday, Sunday, Monday, Sunday”

The Equator This is the zero degree latitude line. This is the longest latitude line. This line splits the Northern and Southern hemispheres. At the Fall and Spring equinox the sun should be right “above” this line at noon.
