Preliminary stakeholder requirements Contents Preliminary stakeholder requirements

Process followed to gather requirements Initial engagements to understand the problem areas and vision Conversations with merSETA to get an overview of the apprenticeship programme, processes and stakeholders Reviewed several merSETA documents to get a clearer understanding of the programme and problem areas Discussions with process owners to understand the current processes (such as the process a company should follow, workplace approval process etc.) and to identify gaps/problems in the current processes. Interviews with apprentices to gain understanding of the problems/difficulties they are facing Now we are here to pick your brain 

Why don’t SMME’s engage? Too much paperwork; Uninformed of processes to be followed; Processes are too complicated; Not enough staff to handle administration tasks; and Communication channels are not optimal.

Other blockages? What other blockages do SMME’s have?

What challenges do apprentices experience? Communication channels are not optimal; Uncertainty regarding the apprentice process; Difficulty finding a company to do an apprenticeship with; Relationships with the artisans who seem to have different priorities; A need for additional training programmes; Please add – I am not sure what other challenges they have?
