Modernization of Warfare Fighting Style and New Weapons of War During World War I (1914-1918)

With Germany’s initial surge into France through Belgium, the intention was to quickly capture Paris and make the French surrender The German military was unsuccessful in their attempt to take Paris Military Strategy

With the failure to take Paris, the German army begins digging trenches to prevent an further retreat out of France French forces counter with trenches of their own (Western Front) Russia and German enter into TW on the Eastern Front Trench Warfare

Stalemate and Slaughter The attacks and counterattacks of trench warfare produced a stalemate Each side now must try to break the stalemate by introducing new weaponry to give them an advantage Stalemate and Slaughter
