Program History 3rd program established in 1982 after Sacramento & Riverside 26 MG’s completed 8 week training April 1982 “Central Committee” formed 1983 as a governing body “Steering Committee” formed 1988 “Board of Directors” formed 1990 Completed our first Strategic Planning process in 2016! Program history is you want.

Today 327 active UC Master Gardener volunteers 2016 62 Gold Badge 14 Platinum 293,622 Volunteer Hours 39,451 CE Hours Class of 2016 Add pictures of your program activities here. Include more fun facts if you want: Longest serving UC MG? MG’s volunteering at local food bank in December 2015

Spotlight Project: Diversity Outreach Delivered our 1st outreach in Spanish A series of 3 compost workshops summer 2016 Dubbed Growing a Thriving Vegetable Garden with Less Water video in Spanish Developing an “Espanol” page on our web site 1st Info Table with Spanish speaking MG’s at Cinco de Mayo 2015 forum with key Latino leaders who advised: “Engage through the common language of food” What would you like to share that other counties would benefit from hearing about? What are you most proud of? Outreach Efforts- Media, Social Media, Partnerships, Marketing Strategy, Newsletter, Recruiting Strategy Projects- Hotline, Speakers Bureau, Demonstration Gardens, School Garden, Training for new MG’s, Public Trainings/Workshops, Hands on Workshops, Fundraiser- Plant Sale, Calendar, Garden Planner

Spotlight Project: Food Gardening Specialists at Bayer Farm New program developed as a result of our Latino Forum & engaging via the common language of food An urban neighborhood park & community garden where we are “learning from each other” Developing a pollinator & demo garden Teams of MG’s there every week to build relationships with the community gardeners & share sustainable gardening practices

Spotlight Project: IPM Specialists Old “PURE” Project revamped 2012 8 Sonoma Master Gardeners received in depth training in IPM practices Work as a team to develop materials and make presentations, using PowerPoint and display tables Have made a dozen presentations to the public and other Master Gardeners
