Information House Marine (IHM) Outline IHM and Dutch Ministries Open data / re-use AQUO semantic standard Coordinator MSFD monitoring art. 19.3 MSFD implementation 2

Information House Marine (IHM) Outline IHM 1. Open data / re-use 2. AQUO semantic standard 3. Coordinator MSFD monitoring 4. art. 19.3 MSFD implementation Metadata published at INSPIRE WFS&WMS services provide the data Data viewer at IHM 3

Information House Marine (IHM) Improve efficiency in monitoring By making parties to work together (share ships / know what others are monitoring and re use data) Publish a monitoring agenda for next year Publish open data in easy to use format Help implementing MSFD Coordinate monitoring efforts of two ministries Coordinate parts of assessments discussions Coordinate reporting (incl art 19.3 !!) 4

Open data Data from the ministries is open Parts can be found on websites More data can be obtained at a helpdesk or by appealing on the open information act. IHM provides a viewer that delivers marine data and maps FROM SERVICES (no data is stored) 5

Open data IHM provides services related to the dutch north sea (so no land based maps are shown) In fact this is INSPIRE annexes 1 and 2 in practice together with non-inspire open data services Geonovum holds a list of services that are designated as INSPIRE 6

Open data The same viewer, but now data from marine projects is being served 7

Open data The same viewer, but now data from regular marine monitoring is being served In fact this one is the most impressive as > 250 chemical measurements (> 1000 parameters/ substances) since 1990 are available 8

AQUO 9

AQUO Chemical measurements from 1990 – now (approx 300.000 measurements) Biology in a week More biology in two years from now 10

AQUO Domain tables for e.g. Dimension: (MASS, LENGTH, CONC, NOISE, .. Units: (kg, m, ug/l, dB, … Parameters: (chlf-a, biotaxa, chemicals, waste, imposex, birds, noise, dikes, ….. 11

AQUO AQUO uses IDs and can be used in any language Is implemented using xml editors or csv We still use csv editor (Excel  ) 12

MSFD IHM helped specification of monitoringprogrammes (frequencies, parameters, dimensions, units, etc.) 13

MSFD Monitoring analysis uploads in 2014 and 2015 14

MSFD Data is stored IHM requests all MSFD data from the ministries (except for ICES-fish data) IHM ensures that only MSFD-labelled data is uploaded Frozen datasets are stored in a Postgres/Postgis database 15

Metadata published Publishing is done manually using the RWS metadataeditor (to use the existing default settings) 17

Key Messages from NL Open data / Re use / efficiency are the main drivers in national politics Inspire techniques as WFS/WMS can be used efficiently as technical standards with national semantics Improve efficiency by withdrawal of many existing EU/riverbassin/other reporting obligations Improve efficiency by withdrawal /merging of many existing semantic standards Proposal: start EU Semantic water standardisation with national reporting authorities, based on successful existing standards (DIN/AQUO/ICES/Reportnet /SDN/Worms /ISO-O&M) using domain tables and strong maintenance funding 27

Questions Discussion …. ? 28
