Description of Ebola Ebola is a rare, deadly disease and can get by infection with the Ebola virus species.

History of the Ebola Virus Ebola was discovered in the 1970s in Africa and is unclear where the virus comes from. Scientist are making advancements to discover where the Ebola Virus originates from so they can control it.

Cases of Ebola

Symptoms of Ebola Symptoms of Ebola include: Fever Severe headache Muscle pain Weakness Fatigue Vomiting “Symptoms may appear anywhere from 2 to 21 days after exposure to Ebola, but average is 8 to 10 days” (CDC).

Transmission of Ebola The spread of Ebola includes: Blood and body fluids Objects that have been contaminated (Ex: Needles) Infected fruit bats and primates (Ex: Apes and Monkeys) Also through sexual contact when a person is recovering from of the disease When a person gets it from an infected animal it is called spillover and when the virus goes from person-to-person it can lead to large numbers of infections.

Where the Ebola Virus Originated The Ebola virus started in Central Africa near the Tropical Rainforest was the first outbreak of it. The most recent outbreak of the virus was in West Africa in the urban and rural areas.

Cures and Treatments of the Ebola Virus Their is No FDA- approved vaccine or medicine available for Ebola. Treatments are maintaining oxygen status and blood pressure. “Providing intravenous fluids (IV) and balancing electrolytes (body salts).
