Only One Thing Is Needed God’s Word and Prayer Key verse: Luk 10:42 But only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better. And it will not be taken away from her."

God’s Word-living and active Heb 4:12 The word of God is living and active. It is sharper than any sword that has two edges. It cuts deep enough to separate soul from spirit. It can separate joints from bones. It judges the thoughts and purposes of the heart. Luk 21:33 Heaven and earth will pass away. But my words will never pass away. 2Ti 2:15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.

God’s word-spiritual food Mat 4:4 Jesus answered, "It is written, 'Man doesn't live only on bread. He also lives on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'" (Deuteronomy 8:3)

How to Eat God’s Word Luk 10:39-42 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. Act 17:11 Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Psa 1:2 but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night.

God's Word - The Sword of the Spirit Ephesians 6:17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Prayer - Speaking to God But as a discipline, it's good for our prayers to consist of: (i) praise to our Father for Who He is; (ii) confession of sin and failure; (iii) petitions concerning the kingdom of God; (iv) petitions concerning our own needs; (v) intercession for the needs of others; (vi) thanksgiving for what God has done; and (vii) thanksgiving for what God will do.

Hannah’s Prayer 1Sa 1:10-11 In her deep anguish Hannah prayed to the LORD, weeping bitterly. (11) And she made a vow, saying, "LORD Almighty, if you will only look on your servant's misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the LORD for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head."

Jesus’ Prayer Luk 22:41-44 He withdrew about a stone's throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed, (42) "Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done." (43) An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him. (44) And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.

Pray so that you will not fall Luk 22:46 "Why are you sleeping?" he asked them. "Get up and pray so that you will not fall into temptation."
