Submission

This biblical definition of submission isn’t reserved for one specific group of people, submission pertains to everyone!

We may justifiably rebel against that unrighteous authority; however, if we do, we must be willing to endure the human consequences.

Why do we choose to not submit to others?

Live in Danger Without God God’s Protection Live in Danger Without God Submit Rebel Humble Ourselves Be Prideful Live Selflessly Live Selfishly Wait on God Act Independently Trust and Obey Doubt and Disobey

“When grace changes the heart, submission out of fear changes to submission out of love, and true humility is born.” ~ William Hendriksen

It is possible for us to submit to an authority, and still disobey the law.

When Christians submit fully to Christ, then they will freely submit to authorities.

Submission is God’s protection and it has its limits under God.

God doesn’t desire that we live like slaves to other people.

Rebellion keeps us in the bondage of the wilderness, while submission gives us freedom!

Matthew 16:21-23 21 From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.

Matthew 16:21-23 22 Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. “Never, Lord!” he said. “This shall never happen to you!”23 Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you

do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.” Matthew 16:21-23 do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”

Whatever is to our “credit” or whatever is “commendable” to us = reward!

Jesus’ humility and submission was not evidence of weakness, but evidence of power. Jesus’ journey to the cross proves that a person can be in the will of God, and greatly loved by God, and still suffer unjustly.

Jesus (being God) wasn’t submitting to earthly authorities, He was submitting to His Father’s will.
