YOUR STORY BEGINS WITH HUMILITY Luke 15:17-21

Big Idea of the Series: God is a master storyteller and He wants to create a story with your life.

WHO ARE YOU. WHO IS THE REAL YOU WHO ARE YOU? WHO IS THE REAL YOU? ARE YOU LIVING YOUR LIFE THE WAY GOD DESTINED FOR YOU TO LIVE? ARE YOU BEING THE YOU GOD CREATED YOU TO BE?

In life, it's not about finding God, it's about finding yourself. FINDING YOURSELF BEGINS THE PROCESS OF HUMILITY

Don't ever covet another person’s story because you don't know the price they have to pay to live out their story.

“He must increase, but I must decrease."” ‭‭John‬ ‭3:30‬ ‭ESV‬‬

BIG IDEA: THE KEY TO LIVING OUT GOD’S STORY FOR YOUR LIFE IS HUMILITY.

“"But when he came to himself, he said, 'How many of my father's hired servants have more than enough bread, but I perish here with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired servants."' And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. And the son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.'” ‭‭Luke‬ ‭15:17-21‬ ‭ESV‬

3 IMPORTANT NOTES I WANT TO EMPHASIZE FROM THIS STORY A son would normally receive his inheritance at the time of his father's death. Pigs were unclean animals. The father is a picture of the Heavenly Father.

“But when he came to himself”

Your story is a road that leads to humility and humility begins when you find yourself in need of God.

WHAT IS HUMILITY? HUMILITY IS THINKING OF YOURSELF LESS AND THINKING OF GOD AND OTHERS MORE.

WHY HUMILITY IMPORTANT TO YOUR STORY? HUMILITY PROCLAIMS GOD'S HOLINESS OVER OUR SINFULNESS BECAUSE HUMILITY KEEPS US LIVING OUT THE STORY GOD HAS FOR US. “He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭25:9‬ ‭ESV‬‬

HUMILITY OPENS THE DOOR FOR US TO RECEIVE GRACE TO HELP US FULFILL OUR STORY. “But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble."”--James‬ ‭4:6‬ ‭ESV‬‬

HUMILITY LOOKS THROUGH THE WINDOW OF WHAT GOD HAS PREPARED FOR YOU WHILE PRIDE LOOKS THROUGH THE WINDOW OF YOURSELF. (SIN)

“"But when he came to himself, he said, 'How many of my father's hired servants have more than enough bread, but I perish here with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you.”--Luke‬ ‭15:17-18‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Rebellion and pride will cause you to rely on unredeemed outlets to sustain you.

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you,” ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5:6‬ ‭ESV‬‬ In the story God has for me, I want God to exalt me in His timing.

The key to the real you begins with HUMILITY. THE ANOINTING IS ON THE REAL YOU

No matter how bad it gets in your life, no matter how far you run from God or even rebel from God, God hasn't forgotten about you because He has written your story.

APPLICATION Will you find yourself today and live out the story God has for you? Will you commit to living a life of humility so you can live out God’s story for your life? “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2:10‬ ‭ESV‬
