Celebrating The Chinese New Year

Cleaning The House The New Year is fast approaching. It is time to clean the house from top to bottom to get rid of any bad luck.

New Year’s Eve At midnight there is a great fireworks display.

The Lion Dance Today is a day of celebrating. The celebration starts off with a parade called the Lion Dance.

Happy Birthday The Chinese New Year is also a birthday celebration. Everyone celebrates their birthdays as part of the celebration.

Prosperity The color red stands for prosperity. Parents give their children red envelopes filled with coins.

Family and Friends Family and friends spend many days together sharing dinners and fun times. It is also a time for family reunions.

The Lantern Festival The last day of the festival is celebrated with a lantern parade. The lanterns are made from paper. A small light is placed inside. When it is dark everyone parades with their lanterns. It is a beautiful site.
