Disassembly Visible part on the inside: (Black) Rotator, (Grey) Rotator Lid, (Transparent Grey) Main Lid Battery lid, screws from battery compartment, and rubber studs from bottom of battery lid

Disassembly Blade Screw Nut to sharpener (rotator) Four of them go to different parts of the sharpener Four more of the same screw goes to the battery compartment The two shorter ones go in the inside (being hidden from the battery compartment) The last one goes to the blade

Disassembly The motor is the silver piece with the red and black wire The tan pieces acts as a protector for the motor The round pieces are the gears to the sharpener Spring Lid Rotator Inner part of sharpener Outer part of sharpener

How do the various parts interact? When you stick the pencil in the sharpener it presses down on a part that is connected to a spring. The spring goes down with the part and the part hits a button. The button triggers the motor to start spinning the gears. The gears spin the sharpener part. "Pencil Sharpener." Force & Simple Machines. N.p., n.d. Web. 16 Feb. 2017.

What are the good and bad features of the product? Form: The form of the pencil sharpener is a combination of a cylinder and a cone. The cylinder expands out at the end, and it resembles that of a cone. Function: The function of the pencil sharpener is to sharpen pencils.

What has caused this product to succeed or fail? How this product failed is because the motor is weak and isn’t able to sharpen pencils well. Although, it may sharpen pencils; but overtime the blade becomes dull and won’t sharpen pencils. "Westcott IPoint Evolution Electric Pencil Sharpener." Amazon. N.p., n.d. Web. 28 Feb. 2017.

Are the materials that were used appropriate? No, the blade was dull so they should use a sharper material so it actually sharpens pencils.

What manufacturing process was used? Both plastic pencil sharpener and aluminum molded sharpener are manufactured by molding presses. To manufacture each type of sharpener separate molds are required. The mold is adjusted in machine and the body of the sharpener is produced. The blades are fitted with screw in the body. Hand operated or motorized machines can be used for producing pencil sharpeners. "Pencil Sharpener Making Plant." Project Ethio: Details of 400 Business Ideas. N.p., n.d. Web. 28 Feb. 2017.

What is the estimated cost of the product? $2.00
