Objectives Compare/contrast past and current family roles in Taiwan. Compare/contrast past and current gender roles in families in other countries. Support personal opinions with reasoning in the topic of gender equality.

Gender difference in Taiwan Men were economically valued both in their occupations and status even if women had similar educational levels. Many employers tended to hire male workers, and it made the wage discrimination exist in workplaces.
Gender difference in Taiwan Different examples indicate why Taiwanese used to think that men should go out to work, whereas women had to deal with housework. Taiwan’s folk culture reflects that males seems to be more valuable than women.
