Col. 3:10 “Put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him.”

Responding to Those Who Have Been Mistaught What Should I Say? Responding to Those Who Have Been Mistaught

The Church of Christ Teaches… There Are Many of These Sites on the Internet. Most of Them are Based on Misquotes, Misunderstandings, and an Improper Use of the Bible. The Bible versus the "Church of Christ" This article is a slightly condensed version of a small booklet that I wrote a few years ago. It's purpose is to expose the false teachings of the so-called "Church of Christ.“ -- James L. Milton

What Does He Say … “The Church of Christ claims to reserve for itself the ONLY scriptural name for a New Testament church, although the term ‘church of Christ’ is found nowhere in the Bible.” "Since the church belongs to Christ shouldn't the church be so called? It is certainly scriptural to refer to the Lord's body as the 'church of Christ'." George Baily. Why I Am A Member of the Church of Christ. Shreveport, LA: Lambert Book House. Pg. 4 THIS IS A MISUNDERSTANDING AND EXAGGERATION

What Does He Say … He Literally Believes That We are Claiming “Church of Christ” is the Name of the Church. “The Lord never specified a special name for the church. The disciples were first called ‘Christians’ at Antioch (Acts 11:26), but a specific name is never given to the church itself.” “The term ‘church of Christ’ is found NOWHERE in any of these references.”

What Should I Say … The Church Is Never Given a Name, But It Is Described By the Term “Church of Christ.” Rom 16:16 “Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the churches of Christ greet you.”

What Should I Say … Acts 20:28 “Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.”

What Should I Say … The New Testament Teaches… Christ Built the Church (Matt. 16:18) Christ Purchased the Church (Acts 20:28) Christ Is the Head of the Church (Eph. 1:22) The Church is the Body of Christ (Eph. 1:23) The Church is the Bride of Christ (Rev. 19:7)

What Does He Say … “According to the Church of Christ, it is unscriptural to use musical instruments in worship services. Only vocal singing is allowed… This is unscriptural logic. There are MANY things that are used in worship services that are not specifically authorized by the Lord Himself. For example, HYMNALS, MICROPHONES, and PITCH PIPES are not authorized in the Bible, but the Church of Christ still uses them in their worship services.”

What Does He Say … “There are many things that the Bible doesn't specifically authorize, but this doesn't mean they are forbidden! God gave us all a BRAIN to use when making decisions about such matters, and He has sealed real Christians with His Holy Spirit to lead and guide them in their decision making. One who insists on looking for specific authorization in all things is one who insists on IGNORING the leadership of the Holy Spirit of God, for the scriptures do not specifically mention all things.”

What Should I Say … He Truly Does Not Understand the Concept of God’s Silence and Generic Authority.

What Is Authorized? Sing Silence Specific Authority Generic Authority Pitch Pipes Song Books Screen Projected Songs Sing That All Be Edified In Order and Properly (1 Cor. 14) DOES NOT BREAK ANY OF THE SPECIFIC PATTERN Silence Using Musical Instruments Choirs Bands Not Authorized Because It Breaks The Specific. Specific Authority Eph. 5:19 Col. 3:16 Speak to One Another. Psalms, Hymns, Spiritual Songs Let the Word of Christ Dwell in You Through Song. Teach and Admonish Through Song. Make Melody With Your Heart.

What Should I Say … The Holy Spirit Does Not Take Us Over. He Does Not Control Our Free Will. This Man’s View of the Holy Spirit, Denies the Need of the Bible Based on the Claim, “The Holy Spirit Led Me to Do It.” Sermon: The Indwelling of the Holy Spirit March 1, 2015

What Does He Say … “To what ‘assembled worshippers’ do you suppose Mr. McClish is referring? In Ephesians 5:19 and Colossians 3:16, the apostle Paul is instructing Christians in matters pertaining to their PERSONAL FELLOWSHIP WITH CHRIST, not worship services.”

What Should I Say … Eph 5:19 “Speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord.” Col 3:16 “Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.”
