Reading Children are in the process of having their fingerprint ID created – only an internal programme and cannot be accessed externally All reading scheme books are scanned in and out A number of opportunities each week to change books – please be patient with us while systems and routines are put in place Bookmarks – key questions linked to their level Expectation to read a minimum of 3times a week (between 5 and 10 minutes) Parent to record reading and sign off finished book – see example Reading five times a week = name on Reading Challenge Parent helpers are very important Guided Reading is an opportunity for teachers to hear children read and enables input and assessment

Homework Achievable We begin with structured activities to enable children to work increasingly independently Support Spelling rules Y3 New National Curriculum (Linked to phonics phases) Times Tables Maths linked to what we are learning in class, includes My Maths (30 minute task on alternate weeks) English writing task linked to what we are learning in class (30 minute task on alternate weeks) Homework will be given out on a Thursday and is due in on the following Tuesday Please cover Homework books and Reading Records – we will provide the sticky-backed plastic
