Presentation transcript:

Probability We are learning to: Determine all possible outcomes of a probability experiment Communicate math thinking orally and in writing using math vocabulary Communicate effectively when working with a partner or in a group

The Problem: http://www.timhortons.com/ca/en/promos/soup-and-bagel-combo.php

How many different lunch time combinations are there? How do you know?

Success Criteria: I know I am successful when: I have clearly identified all possible outcomes in order to accurately describe theoretical probability I have selected an effective way to organize the outcomes (eg. Lists, t-chart, tree diagram, table, etc.) I have used mathematical vocabulary to communicate my thinking I can defend my answer to my fellow mathematicians

What questions do we have? What are some of the things we need to know or could consider? What strategy will you use to help you solve the problem?

Extension: What is the probability that the winning combo will be my favourite? How much will I spend if I get every different combination? Turkey and Wild Rice Soup, Plain Bagel, and a Medium Coffee

What did you learn today What did you learn today? What will you do tomorrow to improve your learning?
