ESSENTIAL DIGITAL LITERACY How well is Social Media used in the Workplace?

TASK 1 Research the use of Social Media (save your findings in your folder) What are the 3 most commonly used sites – how and why are they used? What are the advantages and disadvantages of using the above sites? How can the above sites be used in the workplace? How do you manage your security settings? Evaluate your sources and findings for Currency, Reliability, Accuracy and Purposefulness. Share your ideas with others and show how this has improved your own work.

TASK 2 Review your own online profile Age restrictions Personal protection Public profiles Security settings Privacy settings Save your evidence of review in your folder structure.

TASK 3 Create a digital resource / an employee guide for using social media at work Use a range of software and techniques (web page/wiki) Use a range of devices to create or display your resource Collaborate with others – share your ideas and plans with others Review others’ ideas Show others’ contributions Promote your resource and explain how/why you designed it Save your resource in your folder and create a link to it
