2300 and 2301 Redesign Project: D to E November 2012

Project Background The 2300D and 2301D are important controls in the Woodward portfolio Woodward proactively manages component obsolescence in all our electronic controls and the ‘D’ series is facing end-of-life component situations with both the microprocessor and memory In order to extend the life of this valuable control platform we are transitioning to the ‘E’ series We are adding features to increase value for our customers while preserving backwards compatibility

Hardware Feature Comparison Key design philosophy: 2300/2301E controls are drop-in replacements for 2300/2301D Identical physical mounting footprint Different terminal types but similar wire spacing to avoid re-wiring in replacement situations. See details on following slide. Superior processing power and memory Conversion and validation of existing application code 2301E includes the following enhancements: Separated RS-232 and RS-422 serial ports – both with 9-pin connectors Additional status LED’s (power status, RS-422 status) 2300E includes the following enhancements: Separated serial ports Additional status LED’s CAN channel supporting CANOpen for LinkNet HT, Woodward Actuators, and other CAN-capable devices Second magnetic pickup speed input

Software Additions ToolKit Service Users Tool Datalog Capable Free downloadable Toolkit Service Tool, for ease of setup. Datalog Capable 20 seconds of data information available for download using Control Assistant. 16 seconds of pre-shutdown and 4 seconds of post-shutdown. Dynamics Display Enhanced Toolkit displays which PID is in control and which to tune on. Discrete Input Action Discrete Inputs can be made Normally Open or Normally Closed. 50 Hz / 60 Hz Discrete Input A discrete input can switch between 50 Hz or 60 Hz, for rental units.

Software Additions High Speed Detection High Load Detection Exact overspeed readout for overspeed testing. High Load Detection Exact overload readout. PWM Actuator Output on Discrete Output #1 Low current Pulse Width Modulation output for driving F-Series or P- Series actuators. ModBusTM Capable Similar to the 2301D-EC, ModBus TM can be used to monitor various parameters or completely control all of the control functions.

Wiring Terminal Changes The terminals are changing from the current lever type spring cage connector to another spring cage connector that doesn’t have a lever on it. Terminals handle up to single 12AWG, 2x 18AWG or 3x 20AWG  Due to the addition of new I/O in the 2300E model, the terminal spacing on both the 2300E and 2301E will change slightly from the ‘D’ versions The PT, CT, Actuator Out, Analog In’s and 1st MPU input connections remain essentially unmoved The Discrete In’s, Discrete Out’s and main power input are moved to the right approximately 15 mm  The RS232/RS422 port moves to the right approximately 13 mm

Regulatory Compliance Other TAC’s are not currently planned for the 2301E. However, they can be added if a business case exists. For example: NKK, BV, G. Lloyds, RINA, CCS, RMRS

Part Numbers and List Prices

Production Timeline The development of the 2300/2301E is following Woodward’s Product Life Cycle development process Production launch will occur in December 2012 Since we are trying to conserve the end-of-life parts we want to encourage customers to move to the 2301E as soon as possible. For this reason, Aftermarket orders for 2300D and 2301D only accepted on an exception basis as of Nov. 1, 2012 OEM’s need to be ordering the “E” version by Feb 1, 2013

Frequently Asked Questions Backwards Compatibility? The physical mounting characteristics and I/O in the 2301E are backwards compatible with the 2301D. ServLink / WatchWindows is not supported in the 2301E, but both Control Assistant and ToolKit will work. Certain tunable parameters will have to be entered manually. This process is explained in the manual. What is the current output of the PWM signal? This is a low current signal output and is intended to drive actuators that have their own motor drive. Which GAP version is required to program the 2300E? GAP 3.X is required (no GAP 2.x). Why is the price of the 2300E higher than the 2301E? The 2300E includes a second magnetic pickup and CAN port. Plus, it is freely programmable. What is the plan for the –ST and –GT version of the 2301D since the 2301E version is not released? The 2301D versions will continue to be available (subject to component availability) until Industrial Turbine Systems releases the Peak 200 product as a replacement.
