Reason For The Song H.G. Spafford author Well known lawyer in Chicago in the 1800s. Lost a big part of his wealth during the Chicago fire. Two years later, in 1873, His wife and four daughters in ship that was struck by another ship and sank. All four daughters drown. Wrote the song enroute to England to be reunited with his wife.

Because Jesus Died… …it is well with my soul. Jesus endured great hardship. Jesus remained faithful. Jesus was exalted by God. Jesus intercedes.
