Crosby 5th Grade Starbase

2007-2008 Starbase Academy involves hands-on, real world experiences to raise student interest in math, science and technology.

The curriculum consist of hands on activities, a virtual reality mission to Mars and the Moon at the Challenger Learning Center, interactive experiments, simulations, and on-site tours of the National Guard, Coast Guard, and NASA aviation facilities.

Starbase is a first-hand journey into the exciting world of aviation, aerospace, and technology.

Starbase Instruction includes: Newton’s Three Laws of Motion, the four forces of flight, Bernoulli’s Principle of Lift, aircraft control surfaces, model rocketry, properties of air, properties and states of matter, flight simulation, space exploration, and the development, innovation and use of technology.

Students explore career preferences and are taught a formula for positive personal goal setting, teamwork skills, substance abuse prevention, the importance of staying in school, getting a good education, and maintaining a healthy, drug free life style.

Starbase teaches goal setting and problem solving skills that builds self-esteem.

Starbase provides real world activities to teach the importance of math, science and technology.

STARBASE If you believe it, you can achieve it.
