Changes in our Local Area Year 4 Autumn 2016

New Housing Estate Elan Homes are building houses on the land next door to St Charles’ Catholic Primary School. A number of the new houses will have drives onto Tramway Road.

Our Questions (29.09.16) How many new properties are being built? How many people will live on the new housing estate? How many houses will have drives on Tramway Road? What impact will the new development have on our school and the local residents?

How can we keep everyone safe on their way to and from school? Our Investigation How can we keep everyone safe on their way to and from school?

Our Ideas (29.09.16) Widen the road (Bailey) Lower the speed limit at the busiest times (Cassie) Put traffic lights at the top of the road (Sonny) Maximum number of cars coming down road (Liam) Widen the pavement (Harriet) Make Tramway Road one way (Isaac) Park in the car park at the top of the road (Archie)

Our Plans (29.09.16) 1.Survey Year 4 pupils will visit other classes, teachers and head teacher to ask preference. Tally made for each class – present findings on a graph. 2.Busiest times Pairs of Year 4 pupils with Mrs M will take photographic evidence of busiest times. Put photos on a class display board.
