What we are We are a dedicated group of people from various backgrounds who donate time and energy to be part of the Governing Body of Millstead School. We have the responsibility for raising school standards through key roles of: Setting strategic direction Ensuring accountability Monitoring & evaluation school performance We work as a team with the Head Teacher and Senior Leadership Team to raise the standards of achievement for all of our pupils.

What we do One of our most important jobs is to be a critical friend to the Head Teacher and the Senior Leadership Team. (SLT) We set the Head teacher & Senior Leaders strategic & personal targets; we monitor their performance and hold the Head teacher & SLT accountable for the performance of the school. The Full Governing Body and Staffing & Finance Committee meet at a minimum of four times per year in each term, Autumn, Spring and 2 meetings in the Summer Term. There are also three sub-committees that meet each term; these are Health & Safety, Teaching & Learning and Staffing & Finance There are also many other formal/informal meetings that take place throughout the year to ensure a smooth running and forward direction of the school. All Governors, Head teacher & Clerk attend training courses throughout the year to make sure we stay up to date with the ever changing statutory requirements and government/OFSTED initiatives

Recruitment We currently have no Parent Governor Vacancies Should you want to express an interest, please forward a letter to the Clerk to the Governors who will inform all parents when a vacancy arises. Any parent can become a governor, however a voting procedure needs to be completed No formal qualifications are required Training and support is provided free of charge.
