Paraphrasing and Inference The Foundation of Reading Comprehension

What is paraphrasing? Restating what happened in your own words

The falling man… “The man fell down.” Paraphrased: He collapsed.

What is inference? Drawing a conclusion based from facts and visual clues—ask Why?

The falling man… “The man fell down.” Inference: He must have been sick.

Class Quilt of Inference On the blank side of your index card, draw at least two things that are important to you or define you, symbols that represent you. You must use at least two colors. You may not use any words, though some letters may be okay. Put your name on the back. Draw a border around the edges.
