Nova Classical Academy WBWF Overview Adopt a plan, budget, and a process, to review curriculum, instruction and student achievement in an effort for the world's best workforce. Have all third grade students achieve grade-level literacy Close the academic achievement gap. Have all students graduate from high school. Have all students attain college and career preparedness. Nova Classical Academy Measurement Success in reaching the World’s Best Work Force is measured against the following metrics at Nova: Student performance - ACT Aspire Test. Closing the academic achievement gap in each student subgroup - MN Comprehensive Assessments (MCA) Student performance - MCA’s. College and career readiness in mathematics, reading and writing. Other locally utilized assessment measures. (DDI) Nova Classical Academy

Nova Classical Academy The WBWF Plan Supports and improves teaching and learning with Nova defined student achievement goals and benchmarks. (Q-Comp and locally administered tests) Evaluates each student’s progress toward meeting the state and local academic standards. (RTI, Data Retreats, DDI) Reviews and evaluates the effectiveness of instruction and curriculum. (DDI, Teacher Evaluation) Nova Classical Academy

Nova Classical Academy Ensures high-quality instruction, a rigorous curriculum, and a collaborative professional culture that supports teacher quality, performance and effectiveness. Local Literacy Plan at Nova To ensure that every child reads at or above grade level no later than the end of grade 3: Direct Instruction: Reading Mastery and Horizons (K-3) phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary development, and reading comprehension Literature (3-5) Daily read aloud (K-5) The Writing Road to Reading (K-4) phonemic awareness, phonics, orthographic analysis decoding, spelling, writing Reading at home for 20 minutes a night.

Evaluation (Internal) AIMS Web (K-5) Fluency assessment 3 times/year National norms >50th percentile = proficiency in reading DRA (Developmental Reading Assessment) (Grades 1-4) Fluency and comprehension assessment Grade 1 fall, grades 1-4 spring Determines reading placement for the following year Goal: 90% of rising 5th graders reading in independent range Reading Program Check-Outs Tests given within the reading program to assess skills Given after every 10 lessons PRESS Assessments Diagnostic assessment given to students below the 50th percentile Identifies targeted intervention to support the student

Nova Classical Academy 2016-2017 School Goals Lower School The percentage of all students enrolled October 1 in grades 3-5 at Nova Classical Academy who earn an achievement level of Meets the Standards or Exceeds the Standards in reading on all state accountability tests (MCA, MTAS, MOD) will increase from 82.2% in 2016 to 84.2% in 2017. The 2 percent increase represents about 4 students based on a predicted enrollment of 234 total students being tested at the site. The percentage of all students enrolled October 1 in grades 3-5 at Nova Classical Academy who earn an achievement level of Meets the Standards or Exceeds the Standards in mathematics on all state accountability tests (MCA, MTAS, MOD) will increase from 85.0% in 2016 to 86.5 % in 2017. The 1.5 percent increase represents about 3 students based on a predicted enrollment of 234 total students being tested at the site. Upper School The percentage of all students enrolled October 1 in grades 6-8 and 10 at Nova Classical Academy who earn an achievement level of Meets the Standards or Exceeds the Standards in reading on all state accountability tests (MCA, MTAS, MOD) will increase from 91.7% in 2016 to 92 % in 2017. The 0.3 percent increase represents about 17 students based on a predicted enrollment of 306 total students being tested at the site. The percentage of all students enrolled October 1 in grades 6-8 and 11 at Nova Classical Academy who earn an achievement level of Meets the Standards or Exceeds the Standards in mathematics on all state accountability tests (MCA, MTAS, MOD) will increase from 89.4% in 2016 to 90% in 2017. The 0.6 percent increase represents about 15 students based on a predicted enrollment of 279 total students being tested at the site.
