Lumped Capacitance Calculator By Brandon Messer & Daniel Staves

What is Lumped Capacitance? Lumped Capacitance is a method for estimating Transient Conduction by assuming that the temperature of a solid is spatially uniform.

…There’s an app for that After entering the system Information, Thermal Diffusivity is automatically calculated. The Biot number is calculated based on geometric information.

A few common materials are stored by the program A few common materials are stored by the program. Selecting a material will automatically fill out the conduction coefficient (k), the density and the specific heat. It is also possible to plot the cooling temperature, when the starting temperature is higher than the surrounding temperature.

The Calculations tab displays the time required to reach a specified temperature, and the total energy transferred to or from the object.
