Unified Field Chart Design Workshop Isabelle Matzkin, September 2012 (Update January 2013)

The Unified Field Chart Connects at a glance: parts of knowledge wholeness of knowledge our own inner Self What is meant by parts of knowledge? What is meant by wholeness of knowledge? What is meant by our own inner Self? In your opinion, what might be the value of such an educational approach?

WHOLENESS OF THE LESSON A Unified Field Chart presents knowledge at a glance. It shows how any field of knowledge is connected to its source—the unified field of natural law. It shows the unified field to be one’s own pure consciousness. The purpose of this educational tool is to enhance the development of higher states of consciousness.

2 MAIN POINTS The logical organization of knowledge in a Unified Field Chart The practical application of a Unified Field Chart as a tool for student engagement and learning

Logic of Vertical Organization GROSS SUBTLE Most Expressed Least Expressed Concrete Abstract Outer Inner Largest Smallest Specific General Application Theory/Vision

Pure Awareness, the Source of Thought Finer and Finer Levels of Thought

Examples: Physics, Business Fulfillment Achievement Action Thought Matter Quantum Fields

Individual Physiology Macromolecular Systems Organs Tissues Cells Cell Components Macromolecular Systems Example: Physiology Proteins RNA DNA

Logic of Horizontal Organization Often in 3 columns, which express the self-interacting dynamics of consciousness—also subtle to gross: Knower person/input: noun Knowing process/action: verb Known outcome: noun Example: Computer Science Theory Software Hardware Example: Writing Writer Writing Written Work Example: Government—Separation of Powers Legislative Executive Judiciary

Some charts contain NODES Examples: Physiology, Education, Art

Some charts contain NESTED BOXES Example: Music from auditory system, skin and bone conduction to brain within primary auditory cortex and central nervous system from brain and CNS to peripheral auditory system INPUT PROCESSING OUTPUT Auditory Mechanisms

Integrates Mind and Body Enriches the Environment APPLICATIONS Inspires Evolution Integrates Mind and Body Enriches the Environment APPLICATIONS Music THE MUSICAL WORK Musicians’ Roles and Functions Musical Activities Musical Styles and Functions ENVIRONMENT Physiology of Making Music Practicing, Performing Production of Musical Sound BODY Auditory Mechanisms Hearing, Listening Physical Properties of Sound SENSES Mind, Intellect Thinking, Creating Musical Properties of Sound MIND Finest Level of Self Finest Impulse to Create Finest Quality of Sound FINEST AWARENESS THE UNIFIED FIELD

In pairs: Rearrange these 9 boxes of text (on sticky notes) to make a UFC on cooking. Explain the logic behind your vertical and horizontal organization. Delicious, nutritious, healthy meal Finest level of feeling, most basic level of Self Knowledge of recipes, cooking, and health Impulse/desire to serve, share, nourish, heal Chef Cooking and serving Fresh, pure, delicious ingredients Nourishing and healing quality of food Planning, shopping, preparing

The Unified Field The Unified Field The Discipline The TM Program Government The Unified Field unmanifest least expressed most expressed Society The Unified Field unmanifest least expressed most expressed Thinking YOU ARE HERE!

MAIN POINT 1: The Logic of a Unified Field Chart The logical organization of knowledge in a Unified Field Chart displays the systematic, stepwise emergence of knowledge in layers, from the unmanifest unified field of Total Knowledge, to the least expressed, to the most expressed levels of phenomenal existence. This sequence is traced back during the practice of the TM technique, as the mind naturally settles down to less and less expressed levels of thinking, until it reaches its own unmanifest source—transcendental consciousness—which is the unified field of Total Knowledge.

Describing all 8 main aspects of a Unified Field Chart (in this order, 100 words or less): Today’s Topic of … The Discipline of … The Unified Field The TM Technique The TM-Sidhi Program Natural Law Government, National Law Society

Discuss in groups: In your own opinion, how might an MUM professor use a Unified Field Chart to actively engage students with class material? Think of concrete examples.

1. The Transcendental Meditation Program allows the conscious mind to identify itself with the Unified Field of all the laws of nature, the total potential of natural law, in Transcendental Consciousness. OTHER TEXT ON EVERY UNIFIED FIELD CHART 4. Large groups of individuals practicing together the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi programs, including Yogic Flying, enliven natural law in national collective consciousness, which is expressed in the nation in more enlightened laws and policies from the government, leading to a more ideal society. Chef Cooking & Serving Meal 2. Through the TM program, the mind, gaining Transcendental Consciousness, identifies itself with the Unified Field. Knowledge of recipes & health Planning, shopping, preparing Fresh, pure, delicious ingredients Finest level of feeling, most basic sense of Self Impulse/desire to give, share, nourish, heal Nourishing and healing quality of food 3. The TM-Sidhi program enlivens the Unified Field in the conscious mind and makes the total potential of natural law and its infinite organizing power available in practical life. Knower (Self: nouns) Knowing (Action: verbs) Known (Outcome: nouns)

MAIN POINT 2: Purpose & Use (65 words) The purpose of making a Unified Field Chart is to structure unity in the awareness, thereby culturing unity in the life of the individual and society. In class, it is important to engage students with lively activities that allow them to locate the Self within knowledge and catch a glimpse of Unity Consciousness: “I am That, Thou art That, All this is That, and That Alone Is.”

The Unified Field Chart is a useful way of organizing a field of knowledge. The Unified Field Chart becomes an educational technology to enhance the development of higher states of consciousness. Unity Chart: Connecting the Parts of Knowledge with the Wholeness of Knowledge 1. Surface Level: 2. Deeper Level: , the unified field, is both the source of thought and also the source of knowledge. Unified Field Charts show how the self-referral impulses within the unified field become precipitated as manifest creation. 3. Transcendental Consciousness 4. Impulses Within the Transcendental Field: In Unity Consciousness, unity pervades all aspects of life. In that highest state of consciousness, the vision of wholeness presented in a Unified Field Chart is a living reality. 5. Wholeness Moving Within Itself:
